Here's what I want to do now...

I love the idea of rearranging my current decorations to create a whole new look for our house.

Stephanie M: Can you ask Priscilla if there is a name for this (what she does?) and if she knows anyone in Houston to refer me to?

Also, if any of you other blog readers can recommend how I might get started doing this or good design sites/mags/local people I would be so appreciative!

I have ZERO eye for style and ZERO budget, but high hopes!

It's called "staging" maybe. That might be for selling your house. Maybe it is "redesign". But, I will ask Priscilla. She has a blog... it is unlockingthepossibilities.blogspot.com

By the way... I LOVE the way your house is decorated. I think you have tons of style. Even John commented when we were there this summer how comfortable and pretty it was!

I LOVE doing that. .. and you have a TON to work with. You don't need anything more than your own ingenuity and you have a FABULOUS eye for syle Sara. . . otherwise your pictures would just suck. :p Anyhow, I'd say. . start like this: Assemble clippings of rooms or ideas that you see in mags or online that apeal to you and then ask yourself why. . .. see if you can ferrit out some common themes that keep popping up. Also, sit down with a pen and paper and brainstorm about what you want your home to feel like. Ask yourself how you live and how you'd like to live. How does your family function in their home? What spaces would you like to have if you could? What would you like to make room for? What takes up too much room now. Think out all these types of things and just jot down notes to yourself. Keep it on your mind as you go through your day and when something frustrates you or inspiration strikes. . . WRITE IT DOWN. Do this for at least a few weeks and then sit down and try to organize your thoughts and ideas and dreams. Have an entire vision in place so you know what you're working towards. . . and then you can start biting off projects bit by bit.

I'd love to be a sounding board if you think it'd help but the most important thing is that you get it all down where you can work with it! HOW FUN! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

I love the magazines Domino and Blueprint for homedesign. They always have such fabulous ideas. Also, I am famous for tearing out mag pages and tacking them up on the wall in the room where I want to implement the idea. I did this a while back for a photo wall I wanted to copy from an ad in Pottery Barn. The clipping stayed up for about 2 months until I finally assembled enough frames, pics, and fine art prints to finish it. It was nice to see the idea come to fruition finally! You will do great because you have style and when you decide to do something, you just do it -- something I greatly admire about you! Good luck, and I want to see pics when you're done!!

there is a lady I have heard of that does wonderful vintage and cottage style stuff named Janice McCubbin but I have no idea what her pricing is. She is in Houston. There used to be a lady in The Woodlands Lifestyle Mag that specialized in one day room transformations using what you have. If I come across her name, I will pass it along. If you find someone, please share their info!
